He was a life resident of Evans County and a deacon of Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Evans County Farm Bureau and received Man of the Year award from Ogeechee Soil Conservation and the Evans County Farm Family of the Year award. He was a veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Irene Dasher Durrence of Claxton; a daughter, Judy Crosby of Claxton; two sons, Wayne Durrence of Claxton and Ronnie Durrence of Statesboro; four sisters, Janie Bounds, Marie Godbee and Betty Edwards of Claxton and Eola Weeks of Lilburn; three grandsons and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
VISITATION: will begin at 6 p.m. today at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Friday at Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church, burial in Bay Branch Cemetery.
