William was born January 16, 1903, on a farm near Orange City, the son of John Henry Beltman and Jacomina Van Amerongen Beltman. He was the youngest of eight children to survive infancy.
On February 21, 1934, he married Alys Eringa at Melvin, and they had three sons.
For sixty-nine years, he lived on the farm where he was born. Mr. and Mrs. Beltman then retired into Alton, where they have since resided.
He was a member of the Alton Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alys; three sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Karel, of Alton; Dennis and Dawn of Orange City; and Brian and Darlene, of Colombia, South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 31, at the Alton Reformed Church, with the Rev. Raymond Tilstra and the Rev. Robert Vander Schaaf officating. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
