Ralph S. Heyer

Ralph Heyer, 52, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at his residence in Campbell..

Ralph was born October 27, 1958, in Karlsruhe, Germany, to Gudrun Heyer and Fredy Heyer. He was a nuclear physicist.

A one-word description of Ralph is "unselfish".

He married Norma J. Valentine on May 27, 1985, in Arlington, TX.

Ralph was a Wright State Alumni member. He held bachelor's degrees in Science and in Physics; had received numerous Federal and State awards for radiation safety; and published two books on radiation control. He had written numerous publications and training manuals for radiation safety. Ralph was an active member of the Texas Department of Health and Radiation Safety Committee. He was a long standing member of the Health Physics Society and an affiliate member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. There is a wing of a Texas college that will be built in the near future in honor of Ralph S. Heyer.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; his father, Fredy Heyer; a son, Richard W. Valentine of Lake Dallas; a grandson, R. J. Valentine; and, a granddaughter, Toria Alexis Valentine.

Ralph was preceded in death by his mother, Gudrun Heyer.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell, TX.
