Willie was born on April 23, 1926 in East Lake Lillian Township near Willmar, MN to Reynold and Nancy (Nelson) Alseth. Willie grew up near Cosmos, MN on the family farm. He attended school and was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Cosmos. In November of 1944, Willie enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country in the Philippines and Kobe, Japan. After his honorable discharge in November of 1946, he moved back to Cosmos and gained employment with the National Tea Company in Willmar and Sleepy Eye, MN before purchasing a grocery store with his brother, Lester. Wilton ran the grocery store for three years and then began working for Nabisco as a sales representative in Williston, ND. In 1948, Willie was united in marriage to Doris McKay in Minot, ND. This union was blessed with two children: James and Nancy. A year later, he was promoted to a supervisor for Nabisco. Wilton and his family made their home in Fargo, ND. He was later promoted to and area manager in the special products division and traveled to 18 grocery warehouses in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Willie retired in 1985 after 32 years of service with Nabisco. He and Doris retired to the Park Rapids, MN area and built a home on Long Lake.
Willie loved to travel and over the years he and Doris visited every state in the country including Alaska and Hawaii. They also visited exotic places including Hong Kong and Norway. They enjoyed wintering in warmer weather and they spent several winters in Florida before purchasing a home in Kennesaw, GA.
