VICTORIA - Dennis Lee Brown, 78, of Victoria passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. He was born Jan. 28, 1933 in Bangs to the late Willie Lee and Medina Rhodes Brown. He was a wildlife biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean conflict.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Joyce Mathias Brown of Victoria; daughter, Denise Lynn Baker of Thomaston; son, Mark Shannon Brown of Corpus Christi; sister, Gail Whiteside of Bangs; five grandchildren, Holly Pakebusch Pickering, Chessia Lynn Brown, Judson Drew Pakebusch, Lindsey Medina Brown, and Shannon Lee Brown; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Mathias Tucker, James Hanesworth Pickering III, Thomas Dennis Pickering, and Elora Rhiannon Guillory; and many angels and friends that are part of the family.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Grace Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Mukewater Cemetery in Brown County.
Pallbearers are Keith Richardson, Bill Brownlee, Judson Pakebusch, Chris Pickering, Lyndon Schatz, and Don Bujnoch.
Honorary pallbearers are Rodgie Whiteside, Craig Whiteside, Art Dillon, Dr. Stephens, Pepper Martin, Carl Dubose, Leon Walton, Bill Peters, and all the employees of the Parks and Wildlife Department.
The family requests that donations in Dennis' name be directed to Crown Hospice or First United Methodist Church building fund.
