Mrs. Harlow Dies at Home At Age 83

Mrs. Frank B. (Gertrude) Harlow, 83, of 3640 County Farm Rd., died Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Harlow was born March 13, 1877, in Minneapolis, Minn. and came to Eugene at the age of 12. She was married to Frank B. Harlow Oct. 4, 1899, in Eugene.

Mr. Harlow, who died Aug. 29, 1956, was the son of Anderson J. Harlow, who crossed the plains in 1851, and bought a farm in the Willakenzie area in 1865. Mr. Harlow also became a farmer, and was active in the Grange and the Eugene Fruit Growers Assn.

Mrs. Harlow was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eugene and president of the Willakenzie Thimble Club. She was also active in Red Cross work.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Shirley Jean Harlow, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Florence B. Harlow, both of Portland, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the England Funeral Home, Eugene. The Rev. Vance Webster of the First Baptist Church will conduct the service. Interment will be in the Gillespie Cemetery. ~~~END ~~~

NOTE:

Gertrude Stevens was the daughter of William Henry and Josephine Stevens, pioneers of Lane County, Oregon. She and Frank Harlow had one child, Clifton F. Harlow, who pre-deceased his parents in Portland at the age of 32 on 24 Jan 1934.
