Erlene Mildred Borth, 91, of South Pasadena, Florida died Thursday, March 29, 2007, unexpectedly, at Dolphins View Rehabilitation Center in South Pasadena, Florida.

Erlene Mildred Borth, the daughter of David F. and Adina Emma (Schmidt) Friesen, was born February 2, 1916 at Moundridge, Kansas. She was one of six children born to this union, two sons and four daughters: Donavon, Lucille, Delbert, Phyllis, Erlene, and Shirley. She attended the Liberty Elementary school and in 1934 she graduated from Moundridge High School, Moundridge, Kansas.

On March 9, 1935 Erlene was united in marriage to Daniel J. Borth at Moundridge, Kansas. They established their first home together near McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of seven children, five daughters and two sons: Carol, Mary, Judy, Anne, Barbara, Clark, and Michael.

Erlene was dedicated to the Borth Seed Company to which Dan and she owned. She also wrote and published the cook book "Family Treasured Recipes".
Erlene was a faithful Christian, devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Erlene was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church where she played the piano and organ for twenty-five years. She was President of LWML, taught Bible School and Sunday School. The last 25 years they were members of Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, KS.

On Thursday, March 29, 2007 Erlene died and entered into eternal rest at the age of ninety-one years at Dolphins View Rehabilitation Center, South Pasadena, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dan, brothers, Donavon and Delbert Friesen; sister, Lucille McVey and Dan and Ron Tarrell.

Surviving members of her family include her children: Clark Borth and his wife Susann, of Kamloops, British Columbia, Carol Tarrell of Titusville, Florida, Mary Schultz and her husband James of Springfield, Illinois, Judy Lutz and her husband George, of Treasure Island, Florida, Michael Borth and his wife Abi, of Houston, Texas, Anne Koenig and her husband Will, of Atlanta, Georgia, Barbara Geist and her husband Larry, of St. Cloud, Florida; her sisters, Phyllis Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho and Shirley Bannon and her husband John, of Emporia, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday April 3, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Michael Fibranz and Dr. Reverend Wayne Hoffman at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas. Special music "The Lord's Prayer" and "In The Garden" will be sung by Kris Swanson and accompanied by Dr. Steven Gustafson, organist. Hymn # 474, "Children of the Heavenly Father", Hymn # 532, "How Great Thou Art", and Hymn # 439 "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" will be sung by the congregation.

The final resting place will be the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.

Memorials in memory of Erlene are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas.
