Alfred was a Lieutenant serving in the U.S. Air Froce. After the service he taught industrial arts at Thayer High School in Winchester, NH from 1957 until 1962. While teaching at Thayer High School he coached the girls basketball team and the boys baseball team. He continued as an Industrial Arts teacher at Oakmont Regional High School in Ashbyrnham Massachusetts until his retirement.
