LaGrange. He was a Mason. In 1840 he was living in Cumberland County, Virginia,
with a staff of 55, both free and slave, most of which were engaged in
manufacture and trade, but with some in agriculture and navigation. He was a
partner in a mercantile firm with J. S. Armistead from 1836-1843. He moved to
Lexington City, Missouri, where he was a merchant in 1850, and had 15 boarders.
By 1855, he had removed to LaGrange.
