Adelle K. Wheaton, 76, a lifelong resident of Windham Township, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 13, 2003, following a period of declining health.
Adelle was born on Sept. 24, 1926, at the family home in Windham, a daughter of the late Cyrus Gilbert and Matilda Eloise (Taylor) Wheaton.
She attended school in Windham and was a graduate of Rome High School, Class of 1944. Following graduation Adelle entered Ridley Lowell Business School, where she received her certificate in Secretarial and Accounting. For many years, Adelle worked at the Nichols Bank and then for Sylvania until her retirement.
She was a former member of the Wappasening Grange No. 188 and a member of the Bradford County Historical Society, and served as Windham tax collector and as secretary for the Valley Home Cemetery.
Adelle was an avid reader and she enjoyed quilting and her Scottish heritage. Following her retirement, Adelle devoted many hours to genealogy work and always found time to quilt every day.

Adelle was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Walter G. Wheaton; a brother-in-law, Vernon Tyrrell; and nephews Robert Hutchinson and Charles Wheaton.
At Adelle's request all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
