Paula Mary Campbell Strong was born in Saguache, Colorado to Horace and Mary Alice Curtis Campbell. They were large land ranchers and Horace had been the county treasure. They moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1898 where they had a home on West Harvard Blvd, and operated a 1,500-acre ranch at Rice Hill, about 21 miles north of Roseburg. Her siblings were: James Perry, Myrtle (Neuner), Frances (Noland), Cora (Duncan), Harry Lora, and Helen Curtis (Leake, Glenn)

On Sept. 2, 1911, Paula married Earl F. Strong (1886-1968) in Roseburg, OR. They built a turkey business at Rice Hill, on part of the Campbell ranch, the west side of Interstate-5. They retired in Roseburg, OR.

They had two children, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Tethereau) (1915-1986) and Byron Wallace Strong (1918-1944). Byron was a Lt. in the United States Naval Air Force in WWII. He was killed in action 31, Jan. 1944. Paula Strong died of lung cancer.
