He was taken under the wing of Father Peter L. Nolan, who encouraged and supported him in his studies and he went on to become an accomplished General Surgeon. Dr. Brosnan served his country as a surgeon for the Navy during WWII on the Hospital Ship, the USS Haven, which visited Nagasaki immediately after the war. He was chief of surgery at Kings County Hospital and was a surgeon for the City of New York's Police Department. He lived with his wife in Brooklyn New York where they raised their son Peter. Upon retirement, Dr. Brosnan and his wife Audrey moved to Long Island, New York where he lived his life to the fullest alongside his wife.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Audrey Barbara Holran Brosnan, his only son and his two grandchildren.
