Oliver was the son of Noel Turner, Jr and Mary Farrell. He had two brothers, John b. 1833 and Charles Leslie b. 1835 and two sisters, Sarah Elizabeth b. 1837 and Mary Ellen b. 1838. Information about Oliver was provided by the journal kept by Mary Ellen's son, William Warren White. His journal entries came from family members and the family Bible.
