Died, at his late residence in Jefferson township, on the morning of the 15th, Mr. Jacob Stiles, in the 70th year of his age. Unfortunately he was a cripple all his life, but his last illness which was of several months duration, was scrofula. Funeral took place Monday, Feb. 16th at 1 p.m. Short services were held at the home after which the body was taken to Allen's church of which he was a member, and more extensive services held by his pastor Rev. J. F. Rankin, after which the body was laid away to final rest in the graveyard adjoining the chapel. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his departure who have the sympathy of friends and neighbors.
Misses Alice and Hattie Stiles and brother Henry, all of Columbus, attended the funeral of their father, Jacob Stiles. Miss Hattie came home a few days before his death. Also his son Simon Stiles and family of Cambridge, and Mrs. W. H. Stiles, of Barnes' mills, were present at the funeral. His son, W. H., was unable to be out on account of a severe attack of grippe.
