Mrs. Sarah Ann Van Plew
Sarah Ann Almond was born in Thimbleby, Lincolnshire, England on May 19, 1850. She passed away Friday evening, July 13, 1923 at her home in Libertyville, Illinois.
October 1, 1870 she came with her parents to Chicago and was married to Henry Van Plew, September 18, 1873, since which time she has made her home in this locality.
Mrs. Van Plew leaves to mourn her loss four children and eleven grandchildren, her husband having passed away January 14, 1920. The four children are James W. Van Plew of Beloit, Wisc., Annie E. Orgaard of Center, N. D., and Daisy M. Brelle of Rhinelander, Wis. Three brothers also survive her: William Almond of Stoughton, Wis., John Almond and Henry Almond of Libertyville, Ill.
Mrs. Van Plew, an earnest Christian was a member of the Ivanhoe Congregational church. She loved her church and its interests and was a faithful attendant at all its services. Her favorite hymn was "O Could I Speak the Matchless Worth."
For over twenty years she served as secretary of the Ivanhoe Ladies Aid and Cemetery Association.
Funeral services were conducted at the Ivanhoe Congregational church Monday afternoon, July 16, 1923, the Rev. William H. Zieglerm a former pastor officiating. Burial was the Ivanhoe Cemetery.
