Rosa Bosch, 91, passed away February 9, 2011 at a local assisted-living home after a long illness. Mrs. Bosch was born in Habana, Cuba on April 5, 1919. Along with her husband Jose Antonio and three young sons, she left Cuba in 1961 and moved to Miami Beach, Florida. In 1964 the family moved to Laredo, Texas where Mr. Bosch began a new career in the textile industry, similar to what he had done in Cuba. Upon Mr. Bosch's retirement in Laredo in 1986, he and Rosa moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to live close to their son Silverio and his wife Lisa. Rosa continued to live in Corpus Christi, Texas after Jose Antonio passed away in 1994, and maintained her own apartment until the age of 90 when her illness forced her to move to Villa South. Rosa's main interests revolved around the livelihood of her three sons and their families, but most especially her six grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Her strong Catholic beliefs carried her through all the challenges of life in a new country, as well as with all the medical problems Jose had; and her own medical challenges during the last three years of her life. Rosa's entire life was dedicated to the physical, moral, and spiritual well-being of all her family, as well as her many friends. While Mr. Bosch was suffering through his Alzheimer's illness 17 years ago, Rosa was the primary caregiver at age 75. She cared for him 24/7 and refused to institutionalize him until the last week of Jose's life, and then only because Rosa's own health and welfare were at risk. This was typical of her total dedication to any family member or friend, without regards for her own welfare. In addition to her dedication to her family, Rosa did enjoy cooking and gardening when she wasn't being the grandma babysitter. She received numerous awards at the apartment complex she lived in for her patio decorations during the Christmas Holidays. She was a tough lady with a golden heart and a benevolent soul. Her love of God, faith, and family was all that mattered to her and which transcended the challenges of today's world. She never met a person that wasn't usually her best friend soon thereafter , and for which she would do anything even if she wasn't asked for help. Her infectious smile and charismatic personality attracted instant friends wherever she met them; be it at Church, or at the HEB Plus pharmacy, or at the numerous doctor's offices she visited, or at her home for the last 16 months of her life at Villa South. The Bosch family wishes to thank the entire staff and residents at Villa South for becoming instant family, and for going above-and-beyond the call of duty to make Rosa's situation dignified and comfortable. Their genuine concern and compassion was done not out of duty, but of genuine love. Amongst these wonderful Villa South staff and attendants are Dolly, Denise, Jessica, Delma, Hope, Diana, Olga, Florinda, Maria, Lydia, Eddie Mae, Teresa, Valerie, Darlene, Alicia, Carmen and Gracie. The family also wishes to thank Dr. George Fisher, Dr. Kimberly Stewart, and Dr. James Demberg and all their equally wonderful staffs who also befriended all of us and made Rosa laugh under the dire circumstances. In addition, we also thank the entire pharmaceutical staff at HEB Plus on Saratoga who always asked about Mrs. Bosch and helped her with her needs for many years. During the last 4 months of Rosa's life, the 24/7 support and help provided by the hospice professionals of Nurses-on-Wheels was invaluable to making Rosa's last days on earth a bit more pleasant. Their constant support physically and spiritually, as well as the heartfelt comfort for all the family will never be forgotten. Again, there are so many individuals to name and amongst them are Alicia, Vanessa, Ruby, Gwen, Ana, Rosa, Marie, Juan, Amparo, and Cynthia. A very special mention of thanks and love is made to Rosa's very dear friend Connie Jimenez, and her son Tony and his family. Connie, like Rosa, is also a Cuban widow just a few years junior to Rosa, who happened to live at the same Sandcastle Apartments where Rosa moved after Jose Antonio had passed away 17 years ago. By sheer luck (or divine intervention) Connie, unbeknownst to Rosa, lived in the same complex about 50 yards away, and they quickly became best of friends after meeting at the apartments. In addition to shopping together at HEB for many years, they shared old stories about Cuba, and gave their respective sons Tony and Sil many extra gray hairs they didn't need.

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband of almost 48 years (Jose Antonio Bosch); by her parents (Jose and Dolores Barquin) of Habana, Cuba; by an older sister (Lolita Barquin) of Miami, Florida; by two younger brothers (Pedro Barquin) of Miami, Florida and (Jose Barquin Jr.) of Habana, Cuba.

Rosa is survived by an older sister (Josefina Iglesias) of Miami, Florida; by a younger brother and his family (Lorenzo Barquin) of Caracas, Venezuela; by her sister-in-law (Jesusa Bosch) of Los Angeles, California; by her cousin-in-law (Alicia Bosch) of San Antonio, Texas; by her three sons and their families Jose Antonio Jr. (Margaret) Bosch, Joseph and Michael Bosch, all of Denton, Texas; Silverio (Lisa) Bosch, Matthew and Eric Bosch, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; Eduardo (Judy) Bosch, and Anne Marie and Thomas Bosch, all of Friendswood, Texas; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will from 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Seaside Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011at Most Precious Blood Church, followed by entombment at the mausoleum at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be the six grandchildren, Joseph Bosch, Anne Marie Bosch, Matthew Bosch, Thomas Bosch, Michael Bosch, and Eric Bosch.
