Walter L. Miles Jr., 74, Cherokee, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 6 a.m. in the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. following lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. Mr. Miles remains were cremated.
Walt was born on July 9, 1932, at Cherokee, to Walter L. & Josie (Geasland) Miles. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He had lived in Cherokee most of his life.
He is survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother: Margaret & Eldon Larsen of Estherville; Janet Watson of Sibley; Grace & Roy LaFrentz of Galva; Patricia & Howard Decker of Two Rivers, Wisc.; John Miles of Rhome, Texas; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Eva Booher and a brother William Miles
