Laura was the first child born to Mr. and Mrs. John Strough and when quite a small child she removed with her parents to the state of Missouri where they resided until the spring of 1892 when they moved to their new home seven miles north of Beatrice, at which place Laura taught music.
On April 18, 1894 Laura was united in marriage to Giles A. Laughlin of Oregon, Mo., at which place they resided for years. To this union were born four sons. In the fall of 1917 Mrs. Laughlin came to Beatrice to be with her mother and since the return of her son Park from the world war she and her three boys have lived at 409 North Eleventh street.
Mrs. Laughlin united with the Presbyterian church when quite a young girl and was a true Christian woman.
Mrs. Laughlin is survived by her four sons, Park, Arthur and Wallace at home, and Murray of Little Rock, Ark., and her mother and five brothers and three sisters and two grandchildren. Mrs. Laughlin was a loving mother and a friend to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held from the family home Sunday afternoon, Aug. 22, at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Clark. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Thompson, Mrs. C. Culver and Mr. P. E. Sherwood. The pallbearers were brothers and brothers-in-law, Leonard Strough, Lloyd Strough, Thomas Harding, John
Coonley and Willard Sherwood. Interment in Evergreen Home cemetery.
