Mike was born Aug. 30, 1972 in Houston, to James Reginald and Linda LaBar Fenley. He was a 1990 graduate of Lewisville High School and was currently a senior attending the University of North Texas. He was a member of the African Percussion Ensemble, the UNT Study Abroad Progaam and a member of the Voyagers Dream Group Drum Circle at UNT.

Survivors: parents, James and Linda Fenley of Lewisville; sister, Mary Gail Fenley of Lewisville; grandmother, Abbie Gail Fenley of Lufkin; and uncles and aunts, Paul Fenley of Lufkin, Charles and Pat Fenley of Lufkin, Steve Fenley of Lufkin, Gerald and Mary Goodwin of Lufkin, Westley and Barbara LaBar of Reigelsville, Penn., Mrs. Alma LaBar of St. Foy, Quebec, Canada, and Mrs. Vivian Hight of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
A funeral service and celebration of his life was held Thursday, August 13, 1998 at the First Baptist Church, Flower Mount. Friday, Aug. 14, 1998 at 3:00 p.m., Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lufkin. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin.
