Donald M. Meyer, age 77, of Brookville, Indiana died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

Born September 14, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio he was the son of the late Joseph & Mae (Cooksey) Meyer. He lived most of his life in Franklin County, Indiana and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy.

On March 23, 1957 he was united in marriage to the former Maggie Mae Miller, and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2003.

He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, where he had served as both a Sunday School Teacher & Deacon; he was an avid musician known for playing the Banjo. He enjoyed playing gospel music, and was a member of Ed Day & the Gospel Travelers and the Smyrna Boys, gospel groups.

Survivors include two daughters & sons-in-law, Donna (Brian) Copes of Shelbyville, Indiana and Kimberly (Rodney) Thompson of Connersville, Indiana; one son & daughter-in-law, Gordon (Patty) Meyer of Brookville, Indiana; a brother, Harold (Nadine) Meyer of Aurora, Indiana; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Wilhelm, as well as three brothers, Marvin, Arnold, and Charles Meyer.

Family & friends may visit from 4 till 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 4047 U.S. HWY 52, West Harrison, Indiana.

Pastor Chuck McMahan will officiate the Funeral Services on Saturday, February 12, 2011, 11:00 A.M., at Smyrna Baptist Church. Burial with Military Graveside services conducted by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Big Cedar Cemetery near Brookville.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to Smyrna Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
