Dorothy Janette Anderson, 77, of Mexia, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, in Waco. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born in Hillsboro, Texas, to the late Wallace Marvin and Lucy Iola (Taylor) Daily. She graduated from Itasca High School in 1950, and married James H. Anderson on Feb. 8, 1952, in Hillsboro. She had been a resident of Mexia for the past 54 years. Dorothy retired from the First Mexia Bank after 28 years of service and is remembered as a sweet, soft spoken and gracious lady. Her love for God and her family was evident in her life. Dorothy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerry Don; granddaughter, Amanda Gayle; sister, Kathleen Schmidt; and son-in-law, Duane Pippin.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 59 years, James, of Mexia; son, James Anderson Jr. and wife, Susan, of Mexia; daughters, Valerie Lynn Anderson, of Spring, and Angela Gayle Pippin, of Denton; grandchildren, Windy Anderson Barnard and husband, Rick, Micah Anderson and wife, Brooke, and Paige and Cody Pippin; great-grandchildren, Chapin and Peyton Barnard; brothers, Marvin Daily, of Hurst, Gerald Daily, of Itasca, James Daily, of Forney, and Larry Daily, of Spring; sister, Diane Pritchit, of Conroe; and many other family members and friends.
