Frances E. Hitchcock
Mrs. Frances Enid Hitchcock, 87, native of Arlington and a retired schoolteacher, died late Tuesday night at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center in Rutland where she had resided for the past five years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Friday at Factory Point Cemetery, Manchester, by the Rev. Canon Robert L. Clayton, rector of Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester, to which Mrs. Hitchcock belonged.
Born March 20, 1889 to Jerome and Jennie (Ennis) Lakin, she received her early education in the Arlington schools and was a graduate of the former Castleton Normal School. She and William E. Hitchcock were married June 3, 1911 in Rutland, and he died in 1938. she was a past matron of Adoniram chapter 22, OES, in Manchester.
She leaves a daughter, Helen Walla of Torrance, Calif., a son Philip I of Manchester, four grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie Robinson of North Bennington and Helen Carhart of Florida; also two nieces.
There are no calling hours.
The Brewster Funeral Service, Manchester Center, is in charge of arrangements.
