Britton C. Hulitt died at his home near Paint P. O. April 21st 1887, of heart trouble, aged 77 years and 6 months. He was born on an adjoining farm and always lived in that vicinity, where by frugality and honest dealing he had become wealthy, and won an enviable reputation for uprightness. On the 18th of July 1828 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Troth, who survives and is only six weeks his junior. Nine children were born to them. Six of whom are living and all were present at the funeral. Lydia, wife of W.L. Clyborn; Nathan of Illinois; John of Rainsboro; Mary L, wife of Henry Hope; Emeline, wife of John Roads, and Isabel who is still single. The esteem in which he was held was evidenced by the hundreds who came from far and near to participate in the funeral services at the family residence on the Sabbath at 10 a.m., and follow the remains to the Hulitt cemetery where they were laid to rest. -(April 26th, 1887 The News-Herald, Hilsboro, Ohio)

The funeral services of Uncle Britton Hulitt were conducted by Rev. A.E.Wright, of Cynthians, and Rev. J.I. Taggart, of Hainsboro. Among those from a distance at the funeral last Sabbath, we noticed Isma Troth, of Lynchburg; Hon. John A. Smith, Judge Huggins, John W. Spargur, L.S. Smith, Harry Spargur , J.B. Spargur, of Hillsboro, and Nathan Hulitt of Illinois. -(April 26th, 1887 The News-Herald, Hilsboro, Ohio)
