Mr. Barnes, Formerly of West Palm Beach, FL., was born in Thompsontown, PA..
He had live in Swainsboro for the past 18 years and was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church, and The Internal Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
He was retired from United Technologies as a Master Machinist.
Mr. Barnes serving in the U S Army, was a recipient of a Purple Heart, and was a member of the 5th Regimental Combat Team Association Korea 1949-54, a member of the National Rifle Association.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society , in care of, Lynn English, 735 Golf Dr. Swainsboro, Ga. 30401
Funeral services were Thursday afternoon at 2:00 pm. at Hebron Baptist Church with Reverend Ervin Stapleton officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dellwood, GA.
Pallbearers will be family members.
He is survived by: His wife: Melba Barnes of Swainsboro; 4 Daughters: Kathy Barnes of Swainsboro, Denise Simmons (John) of Loxahatchee, FL., Jackie O'Connor (George) of Vero, FL., Tammy Stewart (Sam) of Richmond Hill; 2 Sons: Richard Barnes of Gilchrist, FL., Travis Todd (Anne) of Metter, GA. 5 Brothers: Jonnie, Jim, Joe, Dave, and Harry Barnes of Thompsontown, PA. Grandchildren: Jon Osburn, John Tucker, Michelle Cutts, Christine Hodgson, John Simmons, III, Wade Barnes, Chad Barnes, Toni Todd, Leigh Anne Todd, and John Thomas Todd. 6 Great Grandchildren.
The family received friends Wednesday evening between the hours of 6 and 8pm. at the Funeral Home.
