Bert attended Brady Public Schools before graduating from Brule High School. Following her schooling, Bert lived in Brule, Brady and Beaver Crossing. Bert was working as a waitress and bartender when she met her future husband, Dwain Dean Abbott. The couple was united in marriage in 1991 at Cozad; they made their home in Beaver Crossing where she worked as a Professional Housecleaner. The couple returned to Cozad in 2009, where she worked at Pamida in Gothenburg and continued her housekeeping business.
Bert loved spending her time with her grandchildren, gardening and collecting cat memorabilia. She also enjoyed cleaning houses because she was able to interact with her clients' families who meant so much to her. Bert especially took delight in hosting her Halloween parties, as it was her favorite holiday of the year. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to share her talent while singing karaoke with her family and friends.
Bert was preceded in death by her grandparents and father-in-law, Kenneth Abbott.
Bert is survived by her loving husband, Dwain Dean Abbott of Cozad; sons, Matthew (Chaz) Crandell of Hastings and Samuel J. Huntsman of Seward; granchildren, Aireonna, Cody and Draken; her parents, Betty Jean Huntsman of Brady and Thomas G. (Connie) Huntsman of Chillicothe, MO; brother, Thomas (Cindy) Huntsman of North Platte; sisters, Cathy (Rick) Brittenham of North Platte, Nita Way of Lexington and Boni Huntsman (Alvin Poen) of Gothenburg, Guardian Angel, Kris Kreutzer; and a host of relatives and friends.
