Died from childbirth complications just 1 day after the birth of her 13th child, a baby girl named Irene. The newborn infant was immediately adopted to a couple who had no children. The next 2 youngest children, Emmett (age 6) and Mary (age 16 mos) we’re adopted by another couple. Three older, minor children - Rose (age 13); Harold (age 10); and Dorothy (age 8) - were placed with but not legally adopted by yet another couple. The remaining 7 children were either already married or were old enough to be out on their own.
