Nelson Loudon DRUMMOND was born December 21, 1880 in Auburn, New York to Robert Loudon Drummond and Anna Electa BURKE Drummond. He was the third of six children. His siblings were Sarah Cynthia (b. 1875), Richard Caldwell Steele (b. 1879), Alexander Magnus (b. 1884), Adah Ethel (b. 1886), and Robert Wilfred (b. 1889). Nelson married Alice (Elsie) Davies TUTTLE on February 4, 1911, and the couple had three children, including Jean L (b. circa 1913), Charles T (b. 1913), and Nelson Loudon (b. circa 1917).

Nelson graduated from Hamilton College and the Albany Law School. He was an attorney in Auburn, N,Y. for 45 years. He was active in state and local politics, and was a state assemblyman In Albany. N.Y. for 1 term. He was corporation counsel under the second Osborne administration. During the war years he served with the advisory committee to selective service boards. He was also deputy director of auxiliary police in the civilian defense setup. He was president of the Cayuga County Bar Association for two terms and a member of the Auburn Lodge 474,BPOE.
