Charles Henry Motley was born on May 1, 1874 in Alabama to James Reiligh Motley & Mary Jane Willingham. He passed away on May 23, 1930 in Hubbard, Hill county, Texas and is buried in the Delia Cemetery in Delia, Limestone county, Texas.

Charles first married Mattie E. Smith on October 28, 1896 in Pike county, Arkansas. Together they had six children: James William, Charles Omar, Jake P., Homer, Lenora Adanah & Rose.

After Mattie died, Charles married Stella Alma Womack on August 14, 1910 in Pike county, Arkansas. Charles and Stella had two children together: Irene & Mattie.

Charles Motley was preceeded in death by both of his wives, his parents, his sisters Minnie Lee [Motley] Cowart and Sally F.[Motley] Horn, and his brother Rev. Andrew Jackson Motley.

He is survivied by his brothers William Thomas and James Pendelton Motley, his sisters Mary Elizabeth [Motley] Adams, Lula A. [Motley] Hardy and Zula Ophelia [Motley] Henthorn, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
