Oscar Evan Adee, son of Richard and Evangeline Adee, was born May 20, 1890 at Minneapolis, KS and departed this life at his home April 26, 1962 at the age 71 years, 11 months and 6 days.
Oscar was the youngest of a family of seven children. His mother passed away when he was six weeks of age. He was raised by his grandmother Adee with the help of his older brothers and sisters.
He was united in marriage to Winifred Montiague on August 17, 1912 at Salina, KS. They set up housekeeping on his father's homestead. To this union were born a son, Elvin, and a daughter, Eileen. In the fall of 1918 they moved to their present home where they have spent the past 43 years. They were making plans to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
Oscar will be missed for his friendly personality; his enjoyment of life from day to day will be long remembered by his family, friends and neighbors. His family will cherish his memory as a patient and kind husband, father, granddad and great granddad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth and Jessie; three brothers, an infant brother, Arthur, Chester and Glen.
His survivors are his wife, Winifred, their son Elvin and his wife Martha, and their children Evan and Zelda of Wells; their daughter Aileen and husband Vincent, and their daughter Barbara of Manhattan; their grandson Bill and wife Deanna and three children of Miltonvale; their grandson Max and wife Rachel and daughter of Wells; also one brother Ben, of Wells; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The funeral was held at the Mt Liberty church, Sunday, April 29, at 2:00 pm with the Rev Lee Wright officiating. Burial was in the Mt Liberty cemetery. Ernest Shannon sang "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone" and the Bethany quartet sang "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers were Ernest Trickle, Almond Baker, Roy Beals, Warren Condray, Forest Comfort, and Powell Stout, Jr.
