Shirley Alford, 73, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2007.

She was born in Oklahoma to Luther Ray and Alma (Hillsberry) Hatley. On Sept. 22, 1951, she married Al Alford in Garland, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKinney. She was a devoted Christian and wanted everyone to know Jesus better.

Shirley was an avid quilter and a member of the McKinney and the Dallas Quilter's Guild. She loved to cook, sing and was known for her joy and laughter. Shirley was a lifelong partner to all of her husband's ventures and adventures. Shirley graduated from Garland High School and was a member of the Class of ‘51.

She is survived by her husband, Al Alford of McKinney; son, Lance Alford and his wife, Debi, of McKinney; daughters, Beth Ann Parson and her husband, Thomas, of Celina, Cynthia Helton and her husband, Jody, of Fort Worth and Amy Herron and her husband, David, of Celina; 10 grandchildren, Kristen, Alyssa, Colin, Jon, Julie, Katie, Matt, Maezi, Carli and Mitchell; anticipated great-granddaughter, Abigail; brother, Jimmy Hatley of Garland; sisters, Jean Poovey of Garland and Alycia Mayo of Sachse; and a host of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Alma Hatley; brother, Johnny Hatley; and sister, Martha Skelton.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of McKinney.... Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
