WATERFORD - Margaret A. Roberts, 77, of State Route 339, Waterford, Ohio, died Monday (July 6, 2009) at 9:56 p.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Marietta, Ohio, to Lloyd B. and Virgie Matthew Wright. She had been a telephone operator for many years. She graduated from Waterford High School, where she was a cheerleader. She was a member of the Fifth Street Church of Christ and had been a Sunday school teacher for several years. She was a member of the ladies golf league in McConnelsville. She loved horses and especially liked to walk her dog. She was known for her laughing and good humor. She was always energetic and hard working and helpful to others.
She was married to Master Sergeant Charles Roberts on June 10, 1951. He died May 20, 1999. She is survived by one daughter, Vicky Lynn Roberts of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sons, Charles Roberts and wife, Chari, of Senecaville, Ohio, Okey Roberts of San Antonio, Texas, and Theodore "Ted" Roberts of San Pedro, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Adrian Peyton, Joseph W. Roberts, Matthew Roberts, Christina Roberts O'Connor, Spencer Roberts, Greta Roberts, Tori Roberts and Charles "Chip" Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Alex Roberts, Ady Roberts and Dillon Roberts; and three brothers, Jack Wright and wife, Jenny, of Enon, Ohio, Ted Wright and wife, Pat, of Waterford and Bill Wright and wife, Betty, of Rocky River, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Helen Spung; and four brothers, Wilbur, Robert, Lloyd Jr. and Rodney Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fifth Street Church of Christ in Beverly with Evangelist Zack Waite officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery. The visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Fifth Street Church of Christ. McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly is in charge of arrangements.
