He was the son of Presley G. Baker and Alma Bowden.

FORT McCOY -- Walter L. Baker, 72, a retired lockmaster for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, died March 23, 1993, at home.

A native of Shady Grove, KY, Mr. Baker moved to Fort McCoy 14 years ago from Cape Coral. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Olive Baker, Fort McCoy; son, Terence Baker, Marion, KY; sisters, Wilma Jean Major, Indiana, and Cleatus Cannon, Kentucky; brother, Frederick O. Baker, Michigan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hiers Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
