He was born June 23, 1925 in McMechen, Marshall County, the son of the late Clarence William and Esther Johanna Kettlewell Wright.
He was a graduate of Fairmont State College and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a retired CEO of the Bank of Gassaway, after serving 32 years in banking. He was past president and a member of the Braxton County Commission, serving for 12 years. He was one of the founding members of and past president of the Braxton County Hospital Board and was a member of the Gassaway United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Louise Snyder Wright, who passed away in March 2001.
He is survived by his son, Charles W. Wright and his wife, Brenda of New Martinsville; his daughter, Beth and her husband, Keith Bragg of Lewisburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Clarence "Bones" Wright of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Donald "Abe" Wright and his wife, Ruth of Huntington; and three grandchildren, Jared Michael Wright, Jennifer Michelle Wright and Lucas Cole Bragg.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, with the Revs. Edgar Suite and Steve White officiating. Burial in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway, with Masonic graveside rites.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
