This may or may not be a duplicate memorial. UDC burial records show buried in Confederate Section of this cemetery but there is Memorial #47366850 listed in Greenwood Cemetery of Monroe county as well with a different death date. He may be buried at one place & have a memorial stone at another cemetery. Not sure which is which at this time. I suspect this is a cenotaph or memorial headstone.
(special thanks to visitor [email protected] for the following info) I am a GGG niece of Judge William Purifoy. This is his actual place of burial, his death date and his headstone. The other JWP from GA is another person entirely. Probably a relative of distance as the Purifoys came through GA and stayed a while before moving on to Alabama.
