Lewis served in the Union Army, during the Civil War, along with 3 of his brothers.
He lived out his life in the Rosefield, Peoria area, always living nearby the King family. In 1880, Lewis and his wife and children, lived on the farm next to his father and 2 doors down from Margaret King, who is divorced or widowed.
Lewis married Emily Epperson in 1867 at Rosefield, Peoria, Illinois.
