JOHNSTON, S.C. - Mrs. Ada Pauline Smith, 73, wife of the late Atys Paulet Smith, died late Saturday after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at noon from Posey's Chapel in Langley with the Rev. Finley Sizemore and the Rev. Toby Broadwater officiating.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. near Sylvania, Ga., in the Double Head Baptist churchyard cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Barnwell County, S.C., the daughter of the late Walter J. Beard and Mary Cotton Beard. She had made her home here for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. D. Beard Sr. of Rt. 4, North Augusta; four sons, James W. Smith of Augusta, Atys A. Smith of Anderson, Ala., H. Frank Smith of Savannah, Thomas E. Smith of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. Cynthia Hodges of Columbia, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
