Sarah Jane Willoughby, 74, of Jefferson Co., died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 1926, peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada White. She had been in poor health for many years. She was born January 30, 1853, daughter of Michael and Mariah (Fuller) Bond. She married Thomas Jefferson Willoughby Sept. 14, 1873. She was survived by two sons, Rufus and Cromer; four daughters, Mrs. Winnie Hails, Mrs. Daisy Shanks, Mrs. Flora Moore and Mrs. Ada White; one brother, Jackson Newlon Bond. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years; her parents and a daughter, Lillian; six brothers, Sidney, Rufus, James, Thomas, Luther and William Bond; two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Willoughby and Mrs. Olive Bruce; five half-brothers, Edward, John, Lewis, Huston and David Bond; four half-sisters, Mrs. Margaret Champ, Mrs. Nancy Champ, Julie Bond and Mrs. Millie Fuller....Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at the Old Shiloh M. E. Church, followed by burial in the Old Shilo Cemetery............She was united with the M. E. Church at an early age and retained her membership through her life. Her life was an open book to be known and read by all with whom she was acquainted. She was ever ready to aid the needy, to encourage the despondent, fostering those principles at all times which elevate both intellectually and spiritually and example of patience and kindness, she was a devoted mother, a true friend and faithful christian.
