Son of Mary Castle and possible father Carr Cassell. 1st arried 12-4-1884 to Margaret L Martin. They had 9 children: Bascom Carneal "B.C.", Mary B, Estie Robert "Mutt", Charles Ben "Charlie", Callie May, Cass "Cassie", Hattie, Mamie & Ray Cassell. 2nd married 12-11-1908 to Mary Lee Speaks-Smith. They had no Children.Buried in an unmarked Grave.
Obituary:
CASTLE---Elbert Castle, who died here Saturday, Jan. 24, was born in Lee county, Virginia, May 30, 1856. He was 57 years, 7 months and 24 days of age. Mr. Castle was twice married. His first marriage was with Miss Margaret Martin in 1884, to which union nine children were born, seven of whom are living, as follows Bascom, of Oklahoma; Estia and Charles, of Denver, Colo.; Miss Callie May, Cass, Mamie and Ray, who yet remain at home. Mrs. Castle died about ten years ago. His second marriage was with Mrs. Mary Lee Smith on Dec. 11, 1908. The deceased and his family moved to Horton about a year ago. Their home was on Horton Heights.
Mr. Castle united witha Baptist church in Lee county, Virginia, about 20 years ago and was a member at the time of his death. The funeral services were conducted at the residence on Horton Heights on Monday afternoon, Jan. 26, by Rev. F. W. Wittenbraker, after which interment was made in the Horton cemetery.
