MINERAL RIDGE - Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Reese-Wynn-Winyard-McDermontt Funeral Home, Niles, for Albert B. Akins, Sr., 73, of 1817 Salt Springs Road, who died early Sunday at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Akins was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Youngstown, a son of Carl A. and Helen Louise Corey Akins, and had lived in the Mineral Ridge area since 1940. He worked for 25 years at the Trumbull Lamp Plant of General Electric Co., Warren before retiring Feb.1 1981.

He was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church, Sincerity Lodge 694 F&A.M., William McKinley Post 106 American Legion, and was past president and treasurer of the East Ohio Lapidary Club. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy B. Young, whom he married Sept. 15, 1939, his stepmother, Mrs. Florence Akins, of Winter Park, Fla.; two sons, William A. of Pataskala and Albert B. Jr. of Niles; two daughters, Mrs. Janet L. Kusnir of Warren, and Mrs. Darla M. Fulford of Cortland; four brothers, Carl and Leland, both of Orlando, Fla., Robert of Winter Park and David of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Bauer of Orlando and Mrs. Rose Kerr of Fruitland Park, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Elton L. Corey, two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter, are deceased.

Friends may call for one hour before services at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be at 6:45 p.m. today.

The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of Trumbull County, 219 North River Road, Warren 44483.
