OBITUARY - MARY KATHRYN MOOR PEARCE:
Mary Kathryn Moor Pearce, age 89, of Waco died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 10am Thursday, April 29 at First Baptist Church of Waco with Dr. John Wood and Dr. Scott Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Wednesday, April 28 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.
Mrs. Pearce was born July 16, 1914 in Fort Worth to William C. Moor and Mary Marie Thompson. She was a graduate of Baylor University. She met her husband, John B. (Joe Jack) Pearce at Baylor in 1932 at a reception for incoming students in front of Old Main. Their love for one another and service to Baylor University continues today. Mrs. Pearce's long, happy life was guided by her Christian love of family, church, and community. She was the loving and caring wife of Joe Jack and proud mother of four children, John, Paul, Jay and Jane. Her faith in Christ and his teachings is reflected in her lifetime of dedication to her Bible students and friends at First Baptist Church of Waco and around the world.
She taught in Waco ISD from 1964 until retirement in 1983. As a teacher in the Waco Independent School District, she provided instruction, hope, and encouragement to many school children. Her success is seen in the eyes of all who studied with her and worked with her. She will be remembered most for her love, kindness, patience, and abiding faith in Jesus Christ.
Survivors include husband, Joe Jack Pearce, daughter, Jane M. Childs both of Waco; sons, John M. Pearce and wife, Jan of Sarasota, Florida, Dr. Paul J. Pearce and wife, Marian of Conroe, and Dr. Jay Pearce and wife, Rochel of Fulton; grandchildren, Kerri and Billy Lauderdale, Lisa and Chuck Lewis, Allison Childs, Allen Childs, and J.D. Pearce; and great grandchildren, Zac and Katy Lauderdale, Julianna Lewis and Miranda and Micah Pearce.
