Mrs. Julia Bargo, 84, of Barbourville, formerly of Salt Gum, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 23, 2009 in the Knox County Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Abe and Dora Bargo born on December 7, 1925 at Salt Gum.

She was a former homemaker and a member of the Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, tending flowers and visiting with her friends at the Senior Citizens Center.

On April 16, 1946, she united in marriage with Nasby Bargo in Bell County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Nasby Bargo; two sons, Sonnie Mills and James Tilman Bargo; five sisters, Rosa and Lillie Bargo, Gretel and Geneva Gambrel and Wealtha Mills; and four brothers, Jack, Lee Roy, Eugene and Abe Bargo Jr.

Survivors include her children, Faye and Hobart Adams and Clara and Joe Detherage all of Barbourville, Bonita and Paul Smith of Woodbridge Lane, VA, Mary Ruth Bargo of Manassas, VA, Jerry Bargo of Barbourville, Jack and Sherry Bargo of Dryden, VA, Rev. Darrel and Debbie Bargo of Gray and Merrell and Sandra Bargo of London; a sister, Gertrude Adams of Barbourville; a brother, Tilman and Wanda Bargo of Gray; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Visitation will be at the Knox Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26, 2009 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM .

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, December 28 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Bob Bunch, Rev. Rollin Bradshaw and Rev. James Vandy officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Manning Cemetery at Roadfork.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Honorary bearers will be David McKeehan, Dwight Davis, Willard Burnette, Dr. West and the staff of the Knox County Hospital and the Long Term Care Unit.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
