She married Billie Aaron Hickman, Sr. on July 9, 1932 in Florence, Arizona. They were the parents of four children. They first lived in the small community of Binghampton, which was located about 7 miles northeast of the city of Tucson, Arizona. Mae was one of eight children born to her parents and many of her siblings, their spouses and children lived in this small community also, which gave them the opportunity for many shared family activities. Their children all grew up with the many cousins who lived close by and many memorable experiences made for wonderful memories and nostalgic remembrances when the cousins met at family reunions. Bill was an electrician and his work eventually took him to Simi Valley, California, where their daughter Sidney also lived with her family. Their next move took them to Ft. Collins, Colorado, where son Ray now lived. After the death of her husband, Mae continued to enjoy companionship of her children and grandchildren. She later moved into an assisted living complex, where she continued to be part of her family's activities. She passed away in March 2010 and left a wealth of treasured memories for her family to share and remember.
Mae was survived by her three children: Billie Aaron (Arla) Hickman, JR, Provo,Utah; Douglas Ray (Barbara) Hickman, Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Deon Kay Jensen (Carolyn), South Jordan; BY 19 grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren.

Her funeral services were held Monday, 29 Mar 2010 in the Olpin Family Mortuary Pleasant Grove chapel
