Funeral services for Jessie Whalen, 89, of Hawarden, were held, Thursday, February 6, 1969, at the Dow Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Young officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, Iowa.
Mrs. Whalen died Monday, February 3, 1969, at the Hawarden Community hospital following a short illness.
She was born September 11, 1880, near Mawuoketa, Jackson county, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Mcaninch. She came to Hawarden in 1887 and lived most of her life in Hawarden and surrounding vicinity. On December 13, 1899, she married Harley Whalen. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1911. She made her home with her father for several years and then lived with her daughter for over 40 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Conrad (Gertrude) Falde; one gandson, Roger Falde; two great-grandchildren, Randy and Robin Falde; one brother, Floyd McAninch, all of Hawarden, and several nieces and nephews.
