The 3rd Tennessee was organized in Giles County 16 May 1861. Nashville, Bowling Green. At Fort Donelson they surrendered 16 Feb 1862, and were taken to Camp Douglas Ill. In the summer of 1862, what was left of the men were taken down the Mississippi River and paroled and exchanged at Vicksburg. Chickasaw Bayou, Raymond Miss., Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Resaca, New Hope Church, Jonesboro. They were paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina, on May 1, 1865.∼Co F 3rd Tennessee Infantry
