John Pollock, brother of B.F. Pollock, living some 10 or 12 miles Southwest of the city, is seriously ill and not expected to recover. Mr. Pollock is now down there in attendance on his brother.
LATER- Just as we were going to press we learn of the death of Mr. Pollock which occurred Wednesday. He was buried yesterday afternoon at Elm Springs. Not having any data at hand we are unable to write an appropriate article for this issue but we will probably have something next week. The News extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

John Pollock enlisted as an Arkansas Volunteer in Captain Stephen B. Enyart's Company, Arkansas Mounted unit, for the Mexican War on 09 June 1847. He deserted on 12 January 1848. John avoided coming back to Fayetteville and made his way east to DeSoto County, Mississippi where he married Susan A Williams in about 1849. He enlisted in the Mississippi Infantry during the Civil War. On 01 May 1864 his wife died in DeSoto Co, Miss. He then married Mary A Biggs on 14 Dec 1865 in the same location. Just prior to 1870 he moved his family to Washington County, Arkansas were he acquired several parcels of land, one of which was from his brother, James on 04 Feb 1870. John died on 05 Aug 1896.
