Mother of the Rev. Father O´Connor Died at Parochial Residence
The death of Mrs. Elizabeth O´Connor occurred at the home of her son, the Rev. Father Richard O´Connor, in the rectory of St. Peter´s Church, Deerfield, yesterday, at 9:10 a.m. She was the widow of Richard O´Connor, who died in 1899.
The death of Mrs. O´Connor was due to a general breaking down attendant upon old age but her fatal illness had been of only a month´s duration. Mrs. O´Connor´s maiden name was Elizabeth Dugan, and she was born in County Tipperary, Ireland 77 years ago, the daughter of Joseph Dugan and Margaret Burke. She came to this city 27 years ago following her marriage to Mr. O´Connor. The couple settled in Waterville and resided there 10 years. Mrs. O´Connor came to Utica about eight years ago after the death of her husband and had recently resided at the parish residence.
She is survived by the following sons and daughters: John of Sidney, Australia; Michael of Los Angeles; William of Denver; Mrs. William O´Toole of Rochester; Joseph O´Connor of Waterville; Mary E. O´Connor; and the Rev. Father O´Connor of Deerfield. Mrs. O´Connor was a woman of the ideal Christian type. Her exemplary equalities of character and disposition had caused her to the [sic] deservedly loved and esteemed and her death is sincerely mourned by all who knew her.
