WOODY BAKER INJURED

Woody Baker, who resides on the Redman farm four and one-half miles northwest of Leon, was terribly injured Tuesday morning about ten o'clock while at work assisting William and James Baker with the threshing on the Ira B. Officer farm.

The injury received by Woody Baker in jumping from a straw stack upon the handle of a pitchfork last Tuesday morning proved fatal. He was taken to the Leon Hospital and given the best of care. But, on Friday evening death came to relieve his intense suffering.

Joseph Woodard Baker was born at Davis City, Decatur County, Iowa on November 28, 1875 and died at Leon, Iowa on September 27, 1912 aged 36 years and 10 months.

He was married June 14, 1899 to Miss Melissa Ellen Honn of Davis City, Iowa. To them were born six children.

Mr Baker leaves a wife, six children, the youngest being six weeks old, an aged father and mother, three brothers, four sisters and a host of friends to mourn his departure.

The funeral services were held at Bethel Chapel near Davis City last Sunday afternoon. The long line of teams in the funeral procession left Leon at 11:00 o'clock reaching the Chapel about 1:30. Rev, Guy J. Fansher, pastor of the Leon Methodist Church conducted the services.
