Stephens/Stevens Genealogy by Plowden Stevens

*David served in the Continental Army & was a POW in Canada.
David was captured on 5/19/1776 at Cedars, Quebec while serving in Col. Hazen's "Northern Campaign" He was promoted to Ensign on 1/1/1777 while held captive outside of Montreal. His younger brother was also captured but later released/traded since he was only a Pvt. David's other brother also served. (information from descendant, Terri McSweeny)

DAR Patriot Index Volume (page 232) lists David FELLOWS, b. 11-23-1736, d. 12-10-1779, m. Lois Stevens; Sargeant, CT. Fellows genealogy notes that David died in captivity during the Revolutionary War.
However, records from Fishkill Supply Depot, NY state:
Lt. David Fellow - Col Hazens Regiment - Died in service at Fishkill 12/10/1779
