He was the son of the late Lee V. and Ollie V. (Dutton) Blevins.
Gene is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Valentine) Blevins; daughter, Joan Blevins; son, Kent Blevins and his wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Jason, and Natalie Blevins; and brother, William Blevins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Grein. He was associated with his family in the operation of Blevins Fruit Farm, Inc., as general manager, and later as sole owner of Blevins Fruit Farm. He served as director of East Central Fruit Growers P.C.A. and Federal Land Bank of York. He was a member of the PA Horticulture Association and presided as president for a term. He was named a Master Farmer of Pennsylvania. He was a member of Stewartstown Lions Club, served as president, and was named a Melvin Jones Fellow. He served as a South Eastern School District Board member. He was a life-long member of Stewartstown United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St., on Saturday, December 2, at 12 noon. Visitation with the family will be in the church sanctuary on Friday, December 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Mason-Dixon Public Library, 250 Bailey Drive, Stewartstown, PA 17363; or to Stewartstown United Methodist Church Mission Fund, Box 398, Stewartstown, PA 17363. The J. J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, is in charge of arrangements.
