Susan I. Meade, 80, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 19, 2009, at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Holston Valley, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late William and Nannie May Ball Woodby. She had been a resident for the last four and a half years at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie. She was a longtime member of the Grosses Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Meade; one brother; and five sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Sheets and husband Kecil and Brenda Hall and husband D.K., all of Chilhowie.; three grandchildren, Tim Sheets, Christopher Hall and Heather Hall; brothers, Tim and Bill Woodby; and sisters, Margaret Johnson, Francis Woods, Peggy Woodby and Nancy Saltz.
Funeral services will be conducted at Grosses Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Lambert officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at Grosses Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie.
